ENODA Hosts OR Challenge Final
ENODA was delighted to host the OR Challenge Final at our Edinburgh office.
Organised by the Operational Research Society, HiGHS, and the University of Edinburgh School of Mathematics - the OR Challenge gives undergraduate Mathematics students from across the UK the opportunity to tackle real-world optimisation problems using data-driven approaches, with the winning team receiving a paid summer placement with ENODA in addition to a cash prize.
Andrew Scobie, Chief Technology & Product Officer, commented:
“It was a wonderful day, marked by extraordinary efforts from participants across the country. Congratulations to the three finalists. I was particularly struck by the energy and commitment each team brought to the ‘Pursuit of the Missing Shade of Blue.’”
Emilio Martin, Head of AI and Data Science, commented:
“At ENODA, we’re committed to supporting and developing future talent, which is why we’re proud to partner with the University of Edinburgh and HiGHS as the industry partner for the OR Challenge.
The OR Challenge - and the subsequent innovations presented today - are a powerful example of how the next generation is already pushing the current-state-of-the-art to redefine our energy networks.”
Congratulations to all the finalists. The strategies presented showcased genuine innovation and novel thinking with the potential to shape the future of clean energy systems.
A special congratulations to the winner, Toby Waite, University of St Andrews.
